Scott Barella Joins the Burst Group as VP and Chief Engineer

ENGLEWOOD, CO, August 3, 2001 – The Burst Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Burst Communications, just announced the addition of Scott Barella, new Vice President and Chief Engineer. Mr. Barella brings 24 years experience to Burst and has dealt with nearly every aspect of broadcast engineering. He has an extensive background in design and architecture, construction, integration and operations.
Mr. Barella’s experience includes positions such as Chief Engineer of the Broadcast Operations and Engineering Departments at the AT&T Digital Media Centers. Previously he was Chief Engineer at KCNC Channel 4 in Denver, where he helped design and integrate a unique News Gathering Operation Center as well as Copter 4, the nation’s first digital helicopter news transmission system. Mr. Barella also served as Director of Engineering at KTWO Channel 2 and KKTU Channel 33 in Casper and Cheyenne, Wyoming. Other positions include Chief Engineer for KTKA Channel 49 in Topeka, Kansas and KTGF Channel 16 in Great Falls, Montana.
Mr. Barella holds a B.S. degree in Radio and Television Broadcast from the University of Wyoming. He is a member of SMPTE and is currently the SBE Chairman for the Denver SBE Local Chapter 48. He is a regularly published writer for industry trade journals including TV Technology and Broadcast Engineering.

Robin Heywood and Kirk Basefsky, co-owners of Burst Communications, formed the Burst Group a year ago to meet the ever-growing demand for systems integration. This division will help achieve the owners’ primary goal of becoming one of the top five system integrators in the country in the next five years. Mr. Heywood oversees the Burst Group as President and believes these goals will be reached with an expert staff of professionals such as Mr. Barella.
