Burst Upgrades Production Control Rooms at Two Idaho Public Television Stations
03/20/09 |
March 20, 2009 – Denver, CO –Burst recently upgraded the production control rooms at Idaho Public Television (IdahoPTV ) stations KUID-TV at the University of Idaho in Moscow and KISU-TV at Idaho State University in Pocatello. The upgrade is part of IdahoPTV’s ongoing migration to digital technology and transmission. It takes both facilities into the digital age and allows the universities to produce more programming in concert with their journalism and communication schools.
The upgrade began several years ago with the installation of a Multi-Format Digital HD Production Control Room at IdahoPTV’s network operations center in Boise, Idaho. It will eventually include completion of the full broadcast transition to DTV, “hardening” the facilities’ generators and back-up systems, moving toward full tapeless operation and archiving.
Baseline equipment installed by Burst at both facilities includes Ross Vision Switchers, Yamaha DM1000 Audio Mixers, Harris Nexio Servers, Avid Deko1000 HD Graphics Work Stations, Harris Panacea Routing Switchers and RTS Zeus frame based intercoms.
The studio in Boise is predominantly used for statewide production for the IdahoPTV network. Most programming originates in Boise and is retransmitted in real time by passing through the KUID and KISU facilities. The Pocatello and Moscow facilities are primarily used for instruction and contribution feeds to Boise-based productions.
Programming received at KISU and KUID is aired directly. Non-live productions are time- delayed in the Moscow feed one hour to account for the Pacific Time Zone, however live programs are carried in real time statewide.
