Burst Replaces Technologix Transmitter at KMIZ-TV
11/15/04 |
November 10, 2004 – Denver, CO - Burst recently began work to replace a Technologix transmitter at KMIZ, Channel 17 in Prairie Home, Missouri, with a previously-owned Harris Sigma Classic transmitter and related accessories from an NBC-affiliate in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The project includes coordinating the transportation of the transmitter from Raleigh to Columbia, plus re-installation, reconditioning and commission of the unit at its new location. This fast track project presents several challenges, mainly a quick turn time and space limitations at the KMIZ site.
In the first phase of the project, the Harris Sigma Classic will be installed with two operational cabinets for aural and visual. To expedite the project, concrete pads will be installed at KMIZ ‘s Prairie Home, Missouri, site prior to re-installation, so that beam supplies, heat exchangers and other outdoor equipment can be placed more efficiently. Once the Harris transmitter is operational, Burst will transition from the Technolgix to the Harris unit.
In the second phase of the installation the Technologix transmitter will be removed so electrical equipment can be located in that space. Downtime will be necessary, but Burst foresees minimal disruption to service.
